My break-up made me mature: John

He never discussed about the ups and downs in his relationship in public but Bollywood actor John Abraham says his break-up with Bipasha Basu has made him mature enough to deal with life.

John, 38, dated Basu for ten years and the couple split rencently.

“I have become mature in life. I must say that every relationship helps you to grow in life and makes you mature.

If today I am sitting here and discussing about my personal life which I had never done before, you can easily gauge that how much I am enjoying my space and time now,” John said.

“I am happy that now I have time for myself and my ailing parents. They are not keeping well and I am devoting all my time to them,” he added.

Professionally also John is enjoying the current phase of his career. He believes his forthcoming release ‘Force’, Tamil remake of ‘KaakhaKaakha’, will enable himself to make a mark in the genre of hardcore action.

“After ‘Dhoom’, I’ve not attempted any action film. So, my fans were a little disappointed with me. Many pointed out that I have the physique and strength, therefore I should attempt a hard core action film. And post this film I think people will find me in the action hero slot,” John said during a Van Heusen store launch in the Capital.

But he says, it was not intentional to join the league of action heroes of Bollywood.

IAF no Shahid Kapoor's 'Mausam'

New Delhi: Shahid Kapoor-starrer Mausam has run into rough weather with the Indian Air Force (IAF) even as it is supposed to release on coming September 16. Sources say that the IAF is unhappy with an action sequence involving six fighter planes, one of them commandeered by Shahid, in the second half of the film.

Air force has held back its No Objection Certificate (NOC) until the producers make the changes they have sought. However, producer Sheetal Talwar said this would not be possible at this late hour because it would require a reshoot and also affect the plot.

Unless the IAF grants this film an NOC,the Censor Board will not accept it for review. Mausam was scheduled for screening before the board on Wednesday but the review was called off in the absence of the IAFs NOC.

Movie Review: Mere Brother Ki Dulhan

2011 has been a year of blockbusters! Delhi Belly and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara are considered to be some of the big blockbusters 2011 has witnessed. With Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, the leading stars of both the films – Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif come together for the first time, along with the new star on the block Ali Zafar and the renowned production house Yash Raj Films. So, does MBKD prove to be another potential blockbuster?

Kush Agnihotri (Imran Khan) is looking for the ideal Indian bride for his Brother Luv Agnihotri (Ali Zafar) who stays in London. In his quest, Kush goes through an array of wacky encounters with several families until he finally finds that perfect girl in Dimple Dixit (Katrina Kaif), the wackiest girl he has ever known. Both the families meet and formalities are completed. Preparations proceed in full swing. And just then, Kush falls in love with Dimple... his brother's dulhan.

Let's get one thing straight, there is nothing unique about Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. But then, it doesn't promise to be a path-breaking film either. It follows the old-age formula, with the very clichd ordinary Bollywood triangle love story which has been showcased in our Bollywood films a zillion times. In fact, the film also gives you flashes of the classic Dilwale Dulhaniye Le Jayenge at times. However, surprisingly, the film yet works! That's mainly because of its treatment. Firstly, the film succeeds in keeping you engrossed nearly throughout its proceedings. In spite of having a predictable storyline, which is expected in films of such a genre, MBKD maintains an interest among the audiences to know what's going to happen next. In fact, it also surprises at times. For example, where dramatic scenes are usually a compulsory part of any triangle love story, MBKD doesn't have any of it. There is no rona-dhona, no bhaiyon ke beech takraar, no love sacrifices, no families going against lovers; nothing at all. MBKD has zilch drama. The entire film is treated in a very light entertaining manner which works for it brilliantly. However, it can't be said that the film has no dull moments. The film gets extremely slow at times, mainly in the pre-interval and post-interval portions. Also, to have 6 full-length songs in a film is something which the audience may not be used to anymore. The film has a long list of songs which might seem to flow well with the narrative, however, ends up slowing the pace of the film.
