Bollywood News Salman skips Lucknow for security reasons

For his brother Arbaaz's Dabangg 2, Salman Khan has decided not to shoot in Lucknow and Kanpur for security reasons. Not his own security, but that of his unit and the local people. We've come to know from the highly-placed sources in the Uttar Pradesh administration that the Khans were "strongly advised" against bringing Salman to shoot on location in Lucknow and Kanpur. Says our source from Lucknow, "Salmanbhai never joined us here in Lucknow. He is not expected to join us. Kuch danga-phasaad (riots) ka lafda hai. Arbaazbhai decided to shoot in UP with the rest of the cast. Salmanbhai won't join us either here in Lucknow or in Kanpur when we shoot there in a couple of days. We've been asked to keep mum over schedules because crowds gather days in advance wherever in UP they hear we will shoot." The fact that Salman is not joining the Dabangg 2 unit in Lucknow has not been divulged to the locals in fear that their anticipation of seeing their favourite Khan in person might turn into a bitter and violent rage of disappointment at his absence. When contacted, Arbaaz who was deeply immersed in the shooting revealed, "It's been chaotic here. We didn't bring Salman. He will now join us directly at Satara for the shooting of the climax. But the people here gathered in hordes for the shooting in the outdoors probably in the hope that Salman would turn up. And when he didn't, they got restless." Arbaaz had to shoot in some of the outdoors of Lucknow Guerrilla style with hidden cameras. "I don't know how the locals got to know. But they were there before us in several locations hoping to see Salman. We had to shoot secretly and flee from some of the outdoors before the Salman-crazy crowds jumped on us." Ironically, Salman's absence in Lucknow generated as much frenzy as his presence would have. Says Arbaaz, "I believe there was trouble in Kanpur a few days ago when we were not even scheduled to shoot there. What do we do! We just want to slip into Kanpur secretly and quickly do the shooting." Significantly, UP and Bihar are out of bounds for Salman Khan for the same reason. The local administration can't guarantee the safety of the superstar or his fans.

Shahrukh Khan promotes Priyanka Chopra’s film

When it comes to promoting and helping colleagues and friends from the film fraternity in popularizing their products, Shah Rukh Khan takes the cake. He proved it once again while co-hosting an award event when he told the audience to go and see Priyanka Chopra’s next film when it releases.

The film is Kunal Kohli’s tentatively titled under-production “Teri Meri Kahaani”, which he has just finished shooting. The actress has teamed up with Shahid Kapoor in the movie.

Kohli who was present on stage when the incident happened, said: “It was really very sweet of Shah Rukh Khan. He was on stage co-hosting the show with Vidya Balan. I went up on stage to give Priyanka Chopra an award, and I said I hoped she’d get one next year for my film.

I want to bring alive first super-villain – Vivek Oberoi

Bollywood has seen several superheroes like Krrish and Ra.One, but actor Vivek Oberoi, who will soon be seen playing Kaal, the villain in Rakesh Roshan’s “Krrish 2″, hopes to give the industry a “super-villain”.

“When they called me and made me read the script, I read the role and was blown off. I want to play it right and it is all the hard work and effort that is paying off. I wanted to bring to life India’s first super-villain, it was good fun,” the 35-year-old actor said here at launch of singer Rajnigandha Shekhawat’s album of folk songs.

Perhaps Vivek forgot that Arjun Rampal was recently seen as a super-villain in “RA.One”. Nevertheless, he is working hard and trying to do justice to his role in “Krrish 2″, the sequel to 2006 superhero film “Krrish”.

Vivek is also very happy with the positive energy on the sets of the movie and says he is lucky to be working with senior Roshan, as well as his son Hrithik, who keeps boosting his confidence.

“When you get that kind of encouragement from your co-star, from somebody who is doing so well , it’s a great atmosphere on the set. There is no insecurity, no negativity. It’s a great set to be on,” said Vivek, who was recently ousted from “Shootout at Wadala”.

Don’t want to only do remakes – Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik Roshan is working in a remake for the first time, but the Bollywood heartthrob is determined not to continue with the genre post- “Agneepath”. As far as comparison goes with the original, he is unperturbed.

“I don’t want to do remakes only. My premise is that I should not do remakes. Earlier, I didn’t even want to hear about it. Now at least I will hear it,” Hrtihik told IANS in an interview.

Filmmaker Karan Johar decided to give a makeover to his dad Yash Johar’s 1990 production venture “Agneepath”, in which Amitabh Bachchan gave one of his best performances as Vijay Deenanath Chahuhan and won a national award.

Karan roped in Hrihik to play the protagonist and with “Agneepath” ready to hit screens Jan 26, expectations are high and people are likely to compare Hrithik with Amitabh. But he is unruffled and believes that “if you do something in your own way, in your individual way, then it will stand out. People will not compare.”

The 38-year-old’s performance was critically acclaimed in films like “Jodhaa Akbar” and “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” and he even gave blockbusters like “Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai”, “Krrish” and “Dhoom 2″.

Despite having such an impressive body of work, he says he can’t “act”.

He said: “My premise is that I can only act well if I am in that character. I have to know everything about my character. If I am not living it, then I can’t act. If you ask me to imitate or act, I can’t do it. Others can because they have that talent. I can’t act, so I am bad actor.”

The new age Vijay Deenanath Chahuhan says shooting for the climax, which is full of blood and gore, was the most difficult part of the movie, helmed by first-time director Karan Malhotra, a former assistant of Karan Johar.

“The climax was shot in Diu and throughout I had to fight with Sanjay Dutt with a bare and bleeding body and the shoot went on for 22 days. It ended up being the toughest schedule of my life,” said Hrithik.

If the “Agneepath” promos are creating curiosity, the new villian in B-town – Sanjay Dutt – has grabbed the limelight with his scary look.
